Admission

Since Kyushu University was selected as one of the thirteen universities to lead the *MEXT’s Global 30 (G30) Project, Department of Economic Engineering has operated an English-taught graduate program of economics: the International Graduate Program in Economics (IGPE). Given many and increasing applicants who wish to specialize in business research, IGPE has decided to launch a new English-taught program, Global Business Science Program (GBSP). GBSP provides graduate-level academic training for scientific business research, in collaboration with Department of Economic System and QBS. Possible fields of specialization include labor economics, corporate finance and financial markets, corporate governance, industrial organization, and other business economics issues.
Knowledge of cutting-edge research on business issues, which enables to find solutions to business problems based on academic research outcome, is getting important in the current complex world. A distinguished feature of GBSP is that it mainly trains skills of scholarly economic analyses of business practices (econometric analyses using firm data and theoretical research). To this end, GBSP is operated under IGPE, and the program students (master course) are required to take core courses of IGPE, which train fundamental skills of economic analyses. Meanwhile, management and accounting studies are also critical to build sound research question, hypotheses, analytical design, and interpretations of findings. Therefore, GBSP provides students with privilege (and requires) to take management and accounting subjects taught in English, instructed by professors of the Department of Economic System (academic) and QBS (practical). The multi-disciplinary training will contribute to comprehensive and multi-angle understanding of business issues.
