Eligibility
 
International Master’s Program in Economics (Including GBSP Master)
 
The applicant for the International Master’s Program in Economics must satisfy one of the following conditions:
 
1. Those who have completed, or are scheduled to complete 16 years of schooling by the date of enrollment. He/She should have successfully graduated from a university and have a bachelor’s degree or a degree that is equivalent to this by the date of enrollment.
 
2. Those who have completed, or are scheduled to complete 15 years of schooling outside Japan by the date of enrollment. He /She should have successfully graduated from a foreign university and have a bachelor’s degree or a degree that is equivalent to this by the date of enrollment.
 
3. Exceptions are made when the Graduate School of Economics of Kyushu University has deemed that the applicant has the equivalent or more academic skills as those who have completed a degree that is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
 
International Doctoral Program in Economics (Including GBSP Doctor)
 
The applicant for the International Doctoral Program in Economics must satisfy one of the following conditions:
 
1. Awarded a master's degree or equivalent professional degree abroad, or expect to have it awarded by the date of enrollment.
 
2. The applicant has academic potential equivalent to or superior to that of a master’s degree or professional degree holders and reaching the age of 24 years by the date of enrollment.
 
3. Exceptions are made when the Graduate School of Economics of Kyushu University has deemed that the applicant has the equivalent or more academic skills as those who have completed a degree that is equivalent to a master’s degree.
 
 
Language Requirement
 
1. All the lectures and seminars will be conducted in English and therefore, students are expected to have a good command of English.
 
2. Concerning the Japanese language, it is preferable to study it in some measure in order to get used to the life in Japan smoothly.

Application Form (including Personal Statement) Download the “Application Form. E(WORD/PDF) Affix your signature and one photo: front view, no hats, taken in the last three months, 4 cm (H) x 3 cm (W).
(Draft of) Master’s Thesis A copy is acceptable.
Summary of Master’s Thesis Approximately 1,000 words
Certificate of (Scheduled) Graduation Certificate officially issued by the final school attended
Academic Transcript Certificate officially issued by the final school attended
Documents Attesting to English Language Abilities (for non-natives) TOEFL (iBT, CBT, PBT), TOEIC, IELTS or CAMBRIDGE: Each score card or relevant document. A photocopy is acceptable. Scores obtained within 2 years from the date of the application are valid.
Proof of Application Fee Payment After making a payment at https://e-shiharai.net/english, save the “Results.”
Two Letters of Recommendation Download our form of the “Letter of Recommendation.” (WORD/PDF) The form includes the guideline for the recommenders. At least one recommender must be an instructor of the university where the applicant graduated or will graduate.
 
 
Submitting Your Application
 
1. Applicants can choose the means to submit application documents from the following two alternatives.
 
A) Email Submission (recommended):

from the email address included in your “Application Form E by the end of the application period A), attaching originals/copies of all application documents except for two letters of recommendation, and save the auto-reply mail from the address above to certify your submission. If you did not receive the auto-reply mail, contact to kakgakusei4@jimu.kyushu-u.ac.jp
 
② Hand in the originals of the copied certification items after your enrollment.
 
B) Postal Mail Submission:
 
① Send originals of all application documents except for two letters of recommendation by registered mail or similar means of mail service to:

② After you have sent your application documents, notify your application by email to:

from the email address included in your “Application Form, E and save the auto-reply mail from the address above. If you did not receive the auto-reply mail, contact to kakgakusei4@jimu.kyushu-u.ac.jp.
 
1. Do not use nicknames or abbreviations when writing your name on the application documents. You must write your name as it appears in your official family register (or on your alien registration certificate for foreign students).
 
2. No changes to application documents will be accepted after submission. Neither documents nor application fees will be returned.
 
Application Fee
 
The application fee is 30,000 yen. You can make a payment with your credit card by accessing the following site with your computer: https://e-shiharai.net/english. After making a payment, print out and enclose the “Results Ewith your application form.
 
Application Period
 
For the 2017 Fall enrollment,
 
A) April 17, 2017 - April 28, 2017 (for Email Submission)
 
B) April 17, 2017 - April 24, 2017 (for Postal Mail Submission) The postmark must be no later than April 24, 2017.
